Ireland: Beautiful Places

Cliffs of Moher

The Cliffs of Moher, in southwestern Ireland’s County Clare, are one of this country’s most stunning sights,  a UNESCO Global Geopark due to their geological importance and significance as a living landscape. The cliffs—a favorite stop for travelers road tripping Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way—are named after an old fort, “Mothar” or “Moher”, which once stood sentry on Hag’s Head to the south.

Cashel of the Kings and St. Patrick’s Rock

It’s one of the best places to go in Ireland. One of Ireland’s most popular national monuments, Cashel’s oldest buildings are over 1,000 years older than the country itself.

Mourne Mountains

The region that hosted many Game of Thrones sets and was the inspiration for CS Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia. There is so much to explore in the area, but perhaps the seaside town of Newcastle is your starting point. It is an easy walk from the city center to Slieve he Donard, Northern Ireland’s highest peak a must visit place.

Sliabh Liag (Slieve League)

Standing on the cliffs of Sliabh Liag, it’s easy to believe you’re standing on the edge of Europe. There is nothing beyond the Atlantic Ocean until you reach the Canadian wilderness. There is only wild sea tumbling down to the foot of the cliffs, with occasional narrow strips of sand. A must Visit Place.
